Bacon and Egg Pizza
Writing has never been my forte. Math, science, things with very clear cut rules and answers, have always felt much more comfortable to me. I always struggled with writing papers in school and was never interested in writing in my spare time until recently. You can’t very well have a blog and hate writing. So I’ve been working on it. It still isn’t easy, but it has become much more enjoyable.
One thing that has greatly improved my writing ability has been me making a conscious effort to be more aware and observant of the world around me. A writing topic can come from anywhere. Like my walk to the grocery store this morning. I left my headphones off so I could be more aware and not so lost in my podcast. And what I witnessed is that pretty much everyone I walked by was lost in their own world. It was nearly impossible to get eye contact from anyone I passed and if I did manage to catch someone they quickly looked away obviously uncomfortable. It’s crazy how lonely a big city can feel. There are people all around me all the time but it feels impossible to connect with anyone, even in the smallest of ways. And I fully admit that I easily follow suit. So I’m working on it. I’m working on not letting myself be consumed in my own world and ignoring the world around me. I am working on letting the writing come to me by staying connected and being observant.
But staying connected about pizza doesn’t take much effort. Pizza is something most of the world can connect over. I mean, it’s pizza. What more is there to say? Except that this pizza has bacon and eggs on it. So I guess there’s that. Melty fresh mozzarella, crispy salty bacon, rich runny egg yolk, and fresh basil. Simply perfect.
Note: I love super crispy browned pizza crust (in case you couldn’t tell). If you like your crust less done, reduce the pre-baking time by a few minutes.

I loved writing but somehow, sometimes…I have no clue what to write about on the blog. *le sigh*
This pizza is sooo pretty Kristin!
Egg baked on top of a great pizza crust is one of the simple pleasures in life, and you’ve really done it justice here. This recipe looks simple, rich, and delicious….and you’ve done a great job capturing it here in both pictures AND words.
I think this looks so so good. I love egg on pizza. So people get so grossed out but they have no idea!
Sounds like we need to have another brunch date soon! And maybe you’re cooking this time :-))

I went from a degree in science to a degree in English. The transition was hard at first. I wasn’t accostumed to thinking critically and outside of the box. I was shy because I thought my answers were wrong. “Maybe what I see isn’t correct.” That’s just it. There are so many more views when it comes to writing–not just one distinct path, but dozens. Like you, I learned to observe my surroundings and practice. Now, I love to write. It has become a part of who I am. This pizza looks delicious with those perfectly cooked eggs nested in the cheese.
I never think about adding egg on pizza but this recipe looks interesting. I think, I might try this some day.
