2022 Gift Guide for Bread Bakers
Better Baking School Bread Bundle
I always love getting experiences as gifts. They are one-of-a-kind! My online e-courses are just that.
The bread bundle includes three in depth bread classes: Yeast Bread Essentials, Holiday Breads, and Beginner Sourdough Intensive. This course is perfect for the baker that is interested in becoming a confident bread baker.
Challenger Bread Pan
I'm not going to beat around the bush here. The Challenger Bread Pan is by far my favorite pan for artisan bread baking. Of all the pans I own, I will always grab this one first.
It's made from cast iron so it holds heat really well giving you an awesome oven spring and crunchy crust.
Bread Baking Starter Kit
This starter kit has so many of the necessary items you need to bake with sourdough! Proofing basket, bread lame, bowl scraper, bench knife, and dough whisk- it has it all.
If you know someone interested in sourdough baking, this would make a great gift to get them started.
The Bread Bible
Rose Levy Beranbaum's The Bread Bible has really helped me over the years. Recipes include bread made with yeast starters, quick breads, flatbreads, brioche, and much more. From ciabatta, semolina, rye, and sourdough breads to bagels, biscuits, crumpets, and pizza dough- this book has it all!
Bread Knife
A good quality bread knife is key to getting an even slice. I have this exact one and use it all the time. It takes no time at all to get through a crusty loaf and keeps my bread looking pristine.
Danish Dough Whisk
A danish dough whisk is a beautiful tool. It perfectly blends ingredients together- especially when it comes to bread recipes.
Bread Baking for Beginners
Bonnie Ohara writes the best book for new bread bakers! Complete with step-by-step photographs and instructions, this beautiful bread baking guide offers a tasty collection of recipes for kneaded, no-knead, and enriched breads.
She also goes over terminology, kitchen essentials, and troubleshooting.
Bread Lame
A bread lame is essentially a razor blade attached to the end of a stick that is used to score bread. Because a razor blade is incredibly sharp, it helps you get a really nice and precise cut when you are scoring. This bread lame is the best quality I've ever used!
Be careful not to fly with this sharp tool. Be sure to ship it home instead.
Farmhouse Bread Box
A bread box is not an essential when it comes to bread baking which is what makes it the perfect gift! It adds just the right amount of cuteness to store your beloved homemade loaves.
Gluten Love Sweatshirt
How adorable is this sweatshirt? It's soft and cozy and supports our favorite thing - bread!
USA Pan Bakeware Set
USA brand of pans make up most of my baking equipment! This set includes everything a new baker would need like sheet pans, loaf pan, muffin pan, and a square and rectangle pan.
You can bake up quick breads such as loaves and muffins as well as yeast breads like rolls and cinnamon buns in these pans.
New World Sourdough
Bryan Ford's New World Sourdough: Artisan Techniques for Creative Homemade Fermented Breads starts with less emphasis on perfecting crumb structure or obsessive temperature monitoring, instead he focuses on the tips and techniques he’s developed in his own practice.
It really is an interesting read and has helped me a lot to perfect my sourdough and really get in tune with it.
Retro Toaster
I like to refresh slices of bread in the toaster before I slather them with butter. I have this mint green version and I love it! It adds a colorful pop of flair to my kitchen.
Boos Block Cutting Board
When the bread has cooled, it's finally time to slice and eat! Boos brand of cutting boards are the best of the best. We used the large tabletop blocks in culinary school which is why I'm so happy to have my own mini version with these cutting boards.
Locally Milled Flour
A really nice, quality gift would be fresh locally milled flour. I encourage you to check around your local community to see what is nearby. If you aren't finding anything, I suggest Janie's Mill flour. It's local to Chicago but they ship out anywhere!
Lodge Cast Iron Dutch Oven
Baking bread in a dutch oven can really step up your game! The dutch oven traps steam inside giving your bread good oven spring and a nice crispy crust.
While it isn't an essential piece for bread baking (you can always just use a baking sheet or baking stone), it can really make a difference which is why it's the perfect gift.
Pizza Stone & Peel
If you love pizza, try your hand at making it homemade! These two tools will really help get a perfect artisan crust.
